Jeanene Williams

Born in the country town of Carnarvon in 1970, Jeanene moved to Perth in the late 1980s to follow her educational pursuits. However, the most transformative chapter of her life unfolded in her late 40s when she came out as a Transgender Woman. This courageous step allowed her to rediscover her true self and passions, affirming the life-changing power of living authentically.

Fuelled by the unconditional support she received from her community, Jeanene developed a profound desire to give back. She has since become a prominent advocate for diversity and inclusion, focusing on uplifting underrepresented groups, particularly women, the LGBTIQA+SB community, and people with disabilities.

Jeanene's advocacy has garnered significant recognition. Among her numerous accolades are: - Winner of the Women in IT Awards ASIA Advocate of the Year at the WIT Asia Summit and Awards 2023. - Winner of Women in Technology WA 2021 Tech [+] Award for Top 20 Women in Tech. - Winner of Women in Technology WA 2021 Tech [+] Award for Outstanding Role Model Awards.

Determined to make a broader impact, Jeanene ran as an Independent candidate in a federal election, highlighting the pressing issues of diversity, environmental consciousness, and the specific needs of the LGBTIQA+SB community.
