About the show

Our BBQ 'Hits' are a terrific way to enjoy music and have a good time. BBQ Hits are tunes that are catchy, upbeat, and inspire you to sing or dance. They can come from any genre, but they often contain an upbeat melody, a catchy chorus, and a powerful beat.
"Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey, "I Gotta Feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas, and "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars are a few examples of BBQ Hits. One benefit of listening to our BBQ Hits is that it can improve your mood and lower your stress levels. Music has been found to release endorphins, dopamine, and serotonin, which are hormones that make us feel joyful, stimulated, and calm, among other psychological and physiological effects on the human body. Hits can also work as a diversion, a catharsis, or a sensation of empowerment to help us deal with unpleasant emotions like rage, despair, or worry.
Another fantastic benefit of listening to the BBQ Hits is that it might improve your creative and social life. No matter the setting—a party, a concert, or a karaoke night—BBQ Hits can unite people. When listeners have similar musical preferences or experiences, they can foster a sense of community, friendship, and fun. BBQ Bangers may also give you the motivation to express yourself artistically through song writing, singing, or dance. Your creativity and imagination may be inspired by them.
Finally, BBQ Hits are a terrific way to enjoy music and have a good time. BBQ Hits are tunes that are catchy, upbeat, and inspire you to sing or dance. Additionally, they can improve your social life and creativity, lift your spirits, lower tension, and give you a relaxed, pleasant feeling. BBQ Hits are a way of life as much as they are music.

About your host, Kevin Walker

I was born in England and started playing the guitar at the age of 10. I became a Christian when I was 16.
I attended Church and began to play music to various groups. I joined a band when I was 18 playing the drums, and we played various gigs around the area. I later teamed up with a guy called Vince Martin, but many will now know him as Vince Clarke of Depeche Mode and Yazzoo and Erasure. I spent a lot of time with these guys as well as Alison Moyet, as we all lived in the Basildon Area. Vince and I played as a duo, playing at many universities and colleges around the country. Vince later decided to start the band Depeche Mode, which I could have had a part in but felt that it was for me.
I continued with my own music career and, to date, have made three albums. The last album I made is called 'Biding My Time' by The Kev Walker Band and is available to hear on most media outlets. I made this last album to raise money for cancer research. I am still writing and recording new material as we speak. I like most kinds of music and have travelled to many countries, but by far Australia is where I call home. I used to live here over 30 years ago, and now I have had my residency reinstated and intend to stay here for the rest of my days.
I love cooking all types of food; I just hate the washing up! I attend church and help out with the worship and also play guitar at various care homes. I also drive as a volunteer with The City of Swan. I used to be involved with a radio station many years ago, and so when I saw the opportunity to be part of the community as a presenter on 88.5FM I was pleased to be selected to do so. In my working life,
I was a Carpenter & Joiner by trade, I then went on to become a site and project manager. Later I studied and became a building inspector and risk management surveyor, and in 2018 I became a Chartered Building Engineer. Since I first lived in Australia in 1990 and have been back and forth from the UK to here.
I have always felt that I should be back where I felt I belonged, and I came back to Australia last year for about 6 months and felt convinced that I was being called back, almost like an 'intimate insistence' in my heart, as one writer described it. I arrived back here in Perth on Christmas Eve 2024 and feel that God has opened the way ahead for me, and I was amazed to see that after putting my application as a returning resident, my application has been GRANTED, and I am back as an Australian Resident, which I am really proud to be.
